When the sun goes down, the forest loses its colors. Then it becomes silent and dark in the realm of the trees; but only rarely completely silent and completely dark. Only by the light of the moon do we stalk and sharpen our senses: What can we still see and hear? What can we smell and what can we feel? A little courage and perseverance are required.

During the summer vacations, the municipality of Simmerath once again organizes the popular forest experience days for children and young people. Whether it's the forest at night, the animals of the forest or edible plants, there are lots of exciting things for young and young-at-heart explorers to discover.

Forester Jörg Melchior from the Rureifel-Jülicher Börde Regional Forestry Office leads young and old through the forest on three-hour themed walks during the forest adventure days.
